At the heart of Nishtar Medical University, our department is more than just a Gynaecolgy and Obstetrics unit; we are a dedicated community committed to the health, dignity, and future of every woman we serve. We understand that healthcare is deeply personal, which is why we’ve built a sanctuary of healing that blends cutting-edge science with genuine compassion. From being the region’s exclusive provider of life-saving Colposcopic Services for cervical cancer screening to our specialized Outpatient Urogynae Clinic, we provide a safety net for women at every stage of their lives.

We believe that every mother and child deserves a world-class start. By partnering with global leaders like WHO and UNICEF, we bring international expertise directly to our wards. Whether we are implementing the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) project to give newborns a fighting chance, leading the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, or participating in the groundbreaking WOMAN trials to prevent maternal mortality, our goal remains the same: ensuring no woman walks her health journey alone.

Shaping the Future of Care

Our passion for healing extends into the classroom and the research lab. Since 2015, we have been a home for aspiring specialists, organizing IMM and FCPS preparatory courses to mentor the leaders of tomorrow. As Master Trainers in essential services like contraception and MVA, and as active contributors to qualitative and quantitative research, we aren’t just practicing medicine—we are constantly questioning, learning, and evolving to find better ways to care for our community.

MISSION: “To deliver high-quality, compassionate, ethical, and accessible obstetric and gynecologic services to all women, with special attention to the underserved populations of South Punjab, through evidence-based clinical care, advanced training of FCPS fellows and health professionals, community-oriented education, family planning empowerment, and the advancement of research and sub-specialty units at Nishtar Medical University Multan.”

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

To sponsor and facilitate the training of our FCPS fellows from Nishtar Medical University in advanced Fistula Repair techniques at recognized centers of excellence, enhancing specialized skills to address prevalent maternal health challenges in the region.
To enable our FCPS fellows from Nishtar Medical University to receive advanced laparoscopic training at leading institutions of excellence, promoting minimally invasive surgical expertise within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
To establish and strengthen a dedicated Urogynaecology Unit at Nishtar Hospital / Nishtar Medical University, integrating sub-specialty services (including fistula management, pelvic floor disorders, and related advanced care) to improve outcomes for women with complex gynecologic conditions, support research, and serve as a training hub for postgraduate fellows and undergraduates.
