INTRODUCTION 

Department of Ophthalmology under the visionary leadership of prof Rashad Qamar Rao ,provides the latest and best diagnostic, clinical and surgical care for patients with eye diseases. We aim to improve the eye health of our patients by providing the highest quality clinical and surgical care according to international standards. We train the next generation of Ophthalmologists through CPSP approved residents’ training program.
Our department provides patient-centered care which leads to best outcomes. We are the only centre in South Punjab providing Vitreo Retina , Pediatric Ophathlmology services and 24/7 Trauma care.

Goals and objectives

To serve the Pakistani community in general and south punjab in specific in diagnoses and treatment of eye diseases.
To provide the pediatric population with standardised eye care
To provide vitreoretinal services to people of south punjab
To groom the faculty members and trainee staff to improve their skills in continued learning and instruction
To be a global leader in vision health by delivering and advancing , innovation, integration and excellence in education , research and clinical practice

TECHNOLOGIES DIAGNOSTICS

Slit lamps with teaching facilities, Fundus cameras, Optical Coherence tomography (OCT), Humphery Visual fields, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), Tonometer , Indirect & direct ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes, hand held refractometer, autorefractometer, keratometer, electroretinogram (ERG) and visual evoked potential (VEP), B scan, A scan for intraocular lens power calculation, Hess Chart, Topography,
SURGICAL
Green retinal Laser for managing patients with proliferative retinopathies like diabetic retinopathy, Nd: YAG laser for posterior capsulotomies and peripheral iridectomies, phacoemulsification machine for cataract surgery, endoscope for DCR in patients with persistent watering due to nasolacrimal duct obstruction, operating microscope with teaching facility, Pars plana Vitrectomy Machine for performing Vitrectomy in patients with retinal detachment
