INTRODUCTION OF DEPARTMENT:

Nephrology  ward managing outdoor and  indoor patients.

Dialysis units (old and New) provide hemodialysis to hepatitis negative, Hep C +ve, Hep B +ve, Hepatitis C PCR –ve and HIV +ve patients.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

To train competent, ethical, and compassionate physicians through evidence-based education, patient-centered care, clinical research, lifelong learning and continuous medical education.

Nephrology ward Teaches

  • Postgraduate classes of FCPS and MD Nephrology.
  • Undergraduate classes of 4th & Final year MBBS.
  • 02 year diploma course of dialysis Technicians.
  • 04 year degree programme BS Renal Technologist.
  • Human Nutrition and dietetics.

HEALTH SERVICES AND STATE OF ART FACILITIES:

Nephrology ward provides  health services like basic admission, monitoring, treatment, emergencies, labs, and procedures(renal biopsies & CVC insertion).

State-of-the-Art Facilities: Central oxygen, monitors, crash cart, EMR, ICU access, and infection control.

PROJECTS:

  • We plan to establish a new fully furnished classroom in basement of ward 7.
  • Dedicated library for post graduate trainees,  DT and BS students.
  • Expansion of old dialysis unit, addition of more HD machines, and emergency hall for all emergency patients of Nishtar hospital and other wards.
  • Addition of more HD machines for HIV patients of new dialysis unit.
